Why we chose RUN?
As a group we immediately decided that we wanted to produce an opening sequence with the genre of horror, as although a typical choice, we knew that we could produce something of a higher standard that we would find relatively easier to portray than a romance for example.
We needed a name that was short, catchy and easy for the potential audience to remember, as well as of course linking to our film. Our synopsis clearly shows that our film is sinister and dark so therefore our name couldn't be something light and fun.
The overall story of our film is about children that are captured and forced to fight each other till death and our opening sequence begins to show that by focusing on one child, the captors next victim, and showing photographs of deceased children.
We chose RUN because it represented the children having to physically 'run' from the captor. It also linked to the psychological effects the torture and murdering of fellow children had on them, so the name RUN represents the children wanting to 'run' and escape themselves. Overall, we liked RUN because it had a complex meaning, it was short and memorable which is what we wanted and also looked effective at the end of our opening sequence as it was big and bold on the screen.
